First, I'd like to thank you for inviting me to join this little community.
Secondly, a little about myself. I'll start with an explanation of the name. It's just my initials and Volkswagon initials, as I am a bit of a VW nut. I've owned many of them over the years, my latest is a '73 Squareback. My name is Darrell, and I've been around TJNR for quite a few years on and off. I live almost in the center of the state of Georgia, I'm 32, have two children, 7 and 7 months, and a wife, an ex-wife, a dog, a cat, and a suicidal turtle.
I grew up a military brat of sorts, and moved all over the US growing up. I lived in Georgia, Ohio, Virginia, Florida, and finally England. I was a beach bum in high school, if you walked out of my back door, you hit sand. My bedroom overlooked the ocean. I loved every minute of it. I moved to England in 92 after high school to visit my parents, who were stationed over there. The next thing I know I had lived there for five years. I met my wife my first day in England, and we dated for a year before her family moved back to the US. We didn't talk for 10 years until out of the blue she sent me an email, we found out we were only 500 miles apart, so we decided to meet and catch up on old times. We've now been married for over 2 years and have a wonderful son.
As far as hobbies, work, etc, lets see.....I am a manager of a Video Game Retail Store, before that I was an insurance adjuster and a recruiter for the insurance company that likes Gecko's, and hates Cavemen. I love video games, sports (mainly football, volleyball, bowling), old cars, and I also read a little. I don't read nearly as much as I used to, and I need to start back. Douglas Adams is still my favorite author as my Topic shows (It's a quote from Restaurant at the End of the Universe). I also love non-fiction memoirs, and any horrid book written by Standup Comedians who decide they want to be funny in writing.
I just bought my dream house because it's more than one story, it has a sun room, and it has a billiard room with a bar, so I can hang out and shoot pool at home now. I hope to be prety involved with this forum since it's a small group of people, and please feel free to ask any questions you have about Games that are coming out, or games that have come out, I actually stay up on them pretty well.

Well that's the idea.
We're not advertising our existance, and I don't really give a shit if the community doesn't grow that big........ it would be nice, but only if new members can write, think and involve themselves in the community like yourself and Tyler (Error404). I want to evolve the community by more of invitation than anything else - it's why we have admin validation already in place.
It's to be our little escape.
You're very welcome Darrell.

Please elaborate on this one. You got my attention with it.

We gave my daughter a turtle for Christmas, and the little bugger will try to run off of any surface. When we put him in his little plastic cage to clean the tank, he headbutts it non-stop, usually moving and knocking it off it's table. he also tries to attack the cat, in what we think is like one of those "Suicide by Police" ideas. I just know one day the cat will get his head right off. He's just afraid of nothing.

I posted on the Samba for a year or so non-stop. That's actually where I found my latest car. I love my squareback. I haven't been on there in about 7 months, which coincidentally is how old my son is. I promised the Wife I wouldn't buy anything off of the Samba, or work on my car until he was a year old, just to keep money in order. If anyone else likes VW's, the Samba is an amazing site. Very helpful car buffs, and they are quite eager to help you out with problems. I had one of the members that offered to send me a hard to find Wiper Motor mount for my Squareback, and all he wanted was money to ship it. Very good people there. I plan to start posting back there soon too. Pitchit, I notice the VW Van in your avatar, that's awesome....I had a 74 VW Window Van for years, wish I still had it. Have you seen the pictures of my car posted over at TJNR?

Hey Darrell! Fellow VW owner here, but not the vintage sort like what you have. I love my VR6 GLI.
Reading about your marriage and how you guys got together, does that mean you believe in fate? Serendipity....
Welcome!

Ah, another young one.
But it's all good - you're good people (though it's going to take some time to get used to "Darrell"). Instead, I think I will call you...DL. Yeah, that's it, DL.
Welcome to the retirement home, DL.

Welcome indeed.
So, if I read it right, you and your wife are both American but you first met in England?
I don't play video games much these days, but I think your knowledge will be useful to our gamers (although they are old and crabby, so they'll have a hard time admitting the don't already know absolutely everything there is to know).
P.S. I don't know why you left the "gecko" but I just got car insurance through them. Hopefully I made the right decision. They did seem to be the most willing to work with me and help me achieve what I needed - i.e. actually find someone who whould insure me because I tend to kill cars.

I actually loved working at Geico, for the most part. I didn't leave because of their lack of Customer Service, I'm still insured with them, wouldn't use anyone else. I just got a better offer elsewhere money wise at the time.
Yep, you read right. My wife and I are both American, but we met in England. Both our parents were stationed in England at the time we met. We worked together the first summer I was there. I dont' know if I call if fate, or whatever, but for years any time the question of past relationships came up, she was always the one I mentioned as the best person I ever dated, the truest soul, the nicest, etc. There was always something about her that made me wonder what if.....now I know what if, and I love her even more.
