Grumpy Auld Bastards > TODAY!........ I think I'm going to........ > Slabber!

Since so many of us old coots seem to be having a hard time getting some zzzzzzzzs, I'm starting a thread (in true female fashion) to bitch about it.

I'll admit, I don't sleep much anyway, but this business of being up for 48-72 hours straight without a good reason - like doing lines of coke off of lindsay lohan's boobs - is for the freakin' birds!
Pitchit
If I don't get my 8 hours a night, I don't function so well.
badbart
I'll be going down for my 4-5 hours in about 45 minutes.

I'm watching HHG on one of the HBOs right now.

Oh, and I just got some sex from the wife about an hour ago. 'Twas nice.

I could probably go to sleep if I was to lay down...but who can lay down when there's so much to do?

My thoughts exactly.

I think I probably created my sleep problems. My dad tells me that I always fought sleep, from the time I was born.

I can function on 4 hours a night, which is how much sleep I usually get. The only time I start complaining is when I'm up for a few days straight!
Rigsby
I always enjoy if I can get 8 hours of sleep. However, it's usually between 4 and 5, and somehow I continue to function.

I definitely appreciate sleep more as I get older. I enjoyed it when I was younger, but I had no idea how good I had it when I could sleep in until noon on the weekend - that was before marriage and kids. I'll only be able to do that again when I'm in the retirement home.

I forget what sleeping in is sad.gif

I normally get 3-4 hours of sleep a night during the week I think. My TV turns itself off at 1am to remind me it's time to go to bed... but I usually turn it back on and finish watching whatever I was watching anyway. Then the TV comes back on at 6:15am. I have a hard time getting to sleep most of the time. Oddly, I can go down and lay on the futon and fall asleep pretty quick for at least a nap, but in bed I tend to stay awake.

Last night it was too hot up here to sleep, so I went downstairs and slept on the futon actually from about 10pmish to 3am, then got up and came upstairs to bed, and laid in bed til 6am when I decided I'd check email and get ready a bit early.

Weekends I sleep a LOT if I can. Sometimes I waste a whole weekend napping.

I think most of my problem with sleeping on nights that I have to work the next day is from the thought that I won't wake up to go to work. I wish they made shocking alarm watches. You know, those little weight loss shockers that run off a watch battery and zap your muscles... one of those in a real watch would likely wake me up. Kind if like 'in like flint' with his watch that gets him out of his suspended animation.

Plus... I tend to think too much at bedtime. That Lunesta is supposed to make you think less at bedtime I think... but... I hate taking stuff. Tylenol PM bugs me as it usually doesn't kick in til way late and I feel crummy the next day.

I dont/cant sleep unless there is a prescription involved.

I may as well have written all of that, because it's sums up my sleep pattern perfectly........ except that I never take 'stuff' to help me sleep.
Sleep, in my book, happens....... I never try to induce it.

The only time I really take something is when my shoulder/arm/neck is bugging me and adding to sleeplessness. I'll take Tylenol PM. Or Excedrin PM. That's as much as I take and never more than the normal dosage. I don't have prescriptions for anything to sleep and haven't ever taken any prescription meds for that.

I mentioned Lunesta because the commercials I've seen on TV, describes what happens to me, I lay here thinking too much to sleep.

I think the reason the PM stuff doesn't work well for me is part of the fact I'm afraid I won't wake up on time.

I can now post in this thread again, I don't do it all the time but when I do it pisses me off.

What's that you wonder?

This is about the 3rd time I've woken up so I decided to climb out of bed and it is now 3.51am Monday,

Urgh.
doughnutfairy
I managed to go for about two weeks with a somewhat normal sleep pattern...if normal is going to bed at 2 and waking up at 6.

Now, unfortunately, I'm back to not sleeping at all.

I'm starting to think I'm Manic-Depressive, without the Depressive part.
doughnutfairy
Come back, insomnia! Come back!

I have so much to do.

It's because you're working out again. Your body is forcing you to sleep...

I'm sure you're right.

I can't seem to get enough sleep, though, and it's irritating. I think it must be my Lupus. The doctor checked my thyroid levels last month and they were normal for once, so the Lupus is the only explanation. I hate feeling so fatigued that I can barely lift my arm to brush my hair.

As soon as I have the energy, I'm going to beat the shit out of you.

Dear God,

It's me again, the Undead DF.

First of all, I'd like to thank you for blessing me with zombie offspring. I won't feel quite so guilty when I have the urge to smack one of them square in the eyes today when she throws the remote at me and demands to watch Blues Clues...for the 40th time. Thank you, God, for the DVR. Without it, I would have been running through the streets naked this morning because it's hard to explain to a two year old that Blues Clues doesn't broadcast on the TV at 4:43 a.m.

Let me also thank you for blessing my sweet baby with my insomnia curse at precisely the same time that I have a research paper to write. It's so refreshing to analyze demand-pull and push-cost economics when zombie baby wants to eat waffles off the same plate the pit bull licked just three minutes ago.

What a joy it is to be swollen like a tick that just fed off of Big Foot. I bet I look dead-sexy! And that limp? I know ALL the men are checking me out when they see my hobble!

All I ask is that you help me make it through the day without having to use duct tape on one of the children. If I have to go to jail, dear Lord, I'll need to stay awake so the bull dykes don't take advantage of me when they see my limp and think I'm weak. Since I haven't been to sleep in close to 36 hours now, I don't think staying awake in a public jail cell would be even a remote possibility.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a remote control to flush down the toilet, a report to proofread and a child to tape to the sofa.

Amen.
God
Dear Doughnut Fairy,

It's me, God.

Sorry about that. How about a winning lottery ticket?
doughnutfairy
rofl.gif

Dear God,

If the winnings are enough to buy a sleeping pill factory, 32 Blues Clues DVDs, 12 rolls of duct tape and a new remote, you've got a deal.
God
Dear Doughnut Fairy,

I'll see what I can do.

Let me just check My ledger to be sure that you've been diligent with your worship of Me...

Er, we might have a problem.
doughnutfairy
But, GOD!

I swear, I only missed church two Sundays ago because I felt compelled by the Holy Spirit to go out drinking Saturday night. When I woke up Sunday morning in that strange man's bed, he couldn't tell me how to get to the nearest church!

I promise if the pagan sacrifices last a little too long this Sunday morning, I'll leave early so I can make it to church on time!
God
I'll tell you what I told Moses.

My wonderful man left work early and stopped by the store to pick me up a pint of my favorite ice cream. He's currently putting devil-baby down for her nap so I can nap as well.

Sorry. I do have a couple of nuns I could send over. If you're into pain.

Ya' know...

If you had more faith in Me, you'd be healing up just fine. To prove your faith, just send $199.95 to your local televangelist and be sure to cut all sinful activities out of your life. ALL OF THEM! If you won't commit to Me, I'm afraid I can't help you out.

Holy Hell! A visit from a guy who claimed he'd never be here.
I'm even more honored by this than realizing that I can now PM God directly!

I say "this morning" because I didn't get to bed until 6:15 a.m.

Holy crapola. Methinks the boy needs to step up and help out a little more (if this is a "getting up in the middle of the night for crying little one" problem).

I got a solid 3 hours last night. Yowsa!

It was more of an "I can't stop searching for information to help Kesi" problem.

I can't get my brain to shut down long enough for me to sleep.

I went to bed to sleep at 11:45ish last night, and pretty much just lay there awake until sometime after 3am. I did sleep after 3, but woke up at 5 and waited til 6 to get out of bed.

I hate thinking... keeps me awake.
