You know... when I am actually busy, you don't see me post as much in any forum.

I have this thing called a teacher for my class/es who doesn't do a good job of teaching a class called "Produce basic client side script for dynamic web pages", aka javascript because she explains half of what needs doing and then expects you to know things she hasn't shown you.

Oh yeah, and then add "Automated Processes" she teaches as well which is basically pseudo coding, algorithms, and deskchecking and I'm screwed. She expects the work she sets to be completed in a 3 hour class and I then end up spending another 9+ at home a week trying to make sense of her half assed instructions.

Oh yeah. And starting from tomorrow afternoon, we have a 2 week vacation otherwise known as school holidays so it's me & 3 kids home driving each other nuts, yay?

At least I had a class I like taking today. Autodesk Maya is kinda cool.

Did I confuse you?
Father Ted
You know Vikki........................ you didn't confuse me at all!
The exact content perhaps, but I reckon we have the same conclusion.

I should be on holiday now. But instead I'm at work.
Why?
Because unless I take everyone by the hand and lead them like a kindergarten teacher, nothing will be done.

And if it's not done, I won't enjoy what's left of my holiday because I'll be constantly thinking about the shit I'll have to take when I get back.
It's not worth it.

So now, what's left of my holiday, is going to have to be spent up in the mountains, socialising with the GF's family.
Hurray! nea.gif

I woke up thinking about Javascript this morning because I'd spent 3 hours of class time and then 4 hours of my free time when I got home staring at the crap. I wasn't pleased. sad.gif

Vikki, you're making me nervous about going back to class!

I'm waiting for one final transcript to come through, then I should be starting in July. I'm so nervous. I haven't attended school in, well, forever. And even then, I didn't have a two year old demanding all my time and attention.

We'll have each other for encouragement, I suppose. smile.gif

Vikki, There's not much I haven't done in javascript, so I can probably help you along. If you're stuck, post your questions here and I'll see if I can't help out.

Oh, and your Joeyesque title is annoying.

Amber, What are you going back to school for? (I'm asking about the area of study, nit the motivation to go back to school.) Aren't you an RN?

I have various other specialty certificates, but none of them add up to me being an RN, which is what I'm returning to school for.

I was lucky when I worked in the Burn Unit. I was an employee at that hospital from the time I was 19. I worked in various areas and due to my stint in Human Resources, had a lot of respect from Administration. When I decided to return to nursing, I was given top pay and a top position. Because the Burn Unit was a stand-alone unit (we had our own OR, Pharmacy, Radiology, etc.) the standard "rules" didn't apply to us and all the LVN/LPN nurses functioned on the same level as RNs. Since we moved, I'd have to take a much lower rate of pay and would be forced to work in either a Nursing Home or Home Health setting.

No way. I'm too much of an adrenaline junkie and it wouldn't be a challenge.

My plan is to get my RN first then attend a program at Kennesaw State that allows you to get your BSN and MSN at the same time in just two years. Eventually, I'd like to be a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry. One of my cousins is in that program now and she loves it.

That's awesome.

My paternal grandmother was widowed in her early 30s when my grandfather's fighter jet crashed on an aircraft carrier (this was almost 50 years ago) and she got her RN as a single parent with 7 kids (6 boys and 1 girl) when she had to support her family herself. My grandma's awesome, by the way - in her eighties and still mentally sharp and active (for an eighty year-old, there's no need for a cane or walker yet).

Awesome DF.

In a rush so no quotes but my gripe with the class is that the teacher doesn't explain things properly.

She dumped pre written forms on us and said copy this form into a page and then write functions so when the user puts some numbers in the form, it will add, subtract, multiply, or divide it. It wasn't explained properly on why things go where and what for. Which is why my friend helped me, and today I'm going to print what we got to work out and then draw lines and highlight all the relevant parts so I can reference why I did things that way.

Oops, I better leave now, I have a class.

Well, I actually have a 12 day break from my classes after tomorrow. I take 2 exams tomorrow, then I don't go back for a while. Next quarter I only have one class, Anatomy and Physiology. I can't wait for that one. DF, my wife is an RN, and after I finish school for Radiology, she's going to go finish up her MSN also because she'd like to become a Nurse Practioner as well. It's always been her goal, and once I'm working Radiology and can help support us all a little better, she's gonna go back and finish her goal I hope.

Well I posted a blog on myspace before, may as well cut the main part into here.

[quoting myself blabbing on]

What I got up to last year...

Due to previous experience I got a fast track on this(above), an RPL if you will, which means Recognised Prior Learning and a 1 & a half hour exam, obviously I passed.

This is what I spent all of last year doing. I managed this with my car crash in the first few weeks of class hence I had to catch 2 buses to get there for a month, court dates courtesy of the ex, and juggling kids. Yay!

Oh, and Distinctions (boast boast) which means all 17 units of this class I scored 90+%.

I win.

I went back for Certificate IV this year which is entry level for University, I don’t plan on going any further though. Hopefully I get a good job after all of this effort. A couple of the classes in Cert 4 are programming streams even though I am taking Multimedia because I’m no programmer. They are hard (Javascript & Automated processes), some is due to me not knowing any of it, a lot is to do with the teacher and her teaching style (or lack of) but I’ll get there.

And that’s it for my school babblings on for now.

Graduation was on the 12th, I didn't go so they turned up in the mail today via registered post.

A&P isn't too hard. It's really just a lot of memorization.

I didn't know you were in school. Are you in the Rad Tech program? I have a few friends that did that and they love it.

Vjay, I think I already told you on MySpace, but Congrats! I'm proud of you. It takes a lot to raise a few children and go to school while you're a single Mum. I tried and failed and I was only raising one at the time!

Good luck on the test this week. Do you feel a little better about it yet?
