I must say, I have always enjoyed anything to do with planes, trains and auto mobiles........... but the pilots impress me the most.
If I could rewind the clock, I'd try join the airforce and learn to fly fast jets, and then at 30, go commercial - a big Jumbo under my arse.
Of course, I could always be the test pilot who sets up all the approaches to new airports. He's the bugger that writes the book on what to do if you have to hit the 'abort' button on final approach........... all that 'go around' navigation shit.
I, and many thousands of my fellow Ulstermen, watched Richard Bransons 'Virgin Atlantic' pilot do it with a Boeing 747 at Belfast International.
Bloody impressive. The guy just kept doing laps, not actually touching down, but undercarriage lowered and coming onto the runway from some crazy angles.
At one point, he did a full 90 degree turn and I could see both complete wings and the roof!
Impressive.
