I've been stressing for weeks now about my college entrance exam. I convinced myself that it wasn't going to be the end of the world when I miserably failed the math portion of the test. My nine year old was the only person that had faith in my mommy super powers.

I took the test this afternoon and lo and behold, I passed all three parts. Yes, even the math!

I scored 97/100 on the Reading portion, 99/100 on the writing portion (I have no idea why my grammar online sucks on such a grand scale) and 58/75 on the Math portion. I was only 5 points away from being admitted into the honors program for math. smile.gif

All that worrying for nothing!

Now if I can just learn my way around campus without looking even more out of place than I already do...

Uhhh...what does this have to do with me?

...other than the fact that I was in college through my mid-twenties hooking up with 18 year-old co-eds, I mean. Is that what you're going for here?
~vjay~
Congrats!!!!!!

The writing portion of the exam included editing three essays. I'm no grammar nazi! That's your job.

Just algebra, a little geometry and a few calculus questions. I'm sure the calculus questions are the ones I missed!

You know what this means, don't you guys? She gets academic software discounts...

I don't know what you are talking about...the math you have to take for an IT degree is far worse than that.
Mike
Congrats DF! Now the boy gets to say he is doing a coed!

Depends on where you're going to school and the type of degree you're pursuing.

Computer Science, yes. A lot of math and even harder math is involved.
Information Systems, no. Statistics and Accounting are about the worst of it.
Certified anything from a trade school, no. This is a non-traditional "degree" and doesn't require the student be literate or math-capable.

Nice new look on the bloggy thing, Pitchit. Very pretty.

What kind of Calculus questions did they ask, DF?
Rigsby
Congrats DF! Good for you.

I can now add you to the list of college girls I stalk online...

Puzzy really saved my ass on that one.

Thanks everyone.

Bart, the calculus questions were very basic. Related rates and differential equations type stuff. The only math I have to take for my first degree is a statistics course. There is a possibility I may have to take 101 again since it has been a long, long time since I took a math class.
Mike
So what sorority are you going to pledge? You could also be a little sister for some frat!

Says who? Maybe you could teach them a thing or two. Think of it as doing one for mankind.

I have done a lot of different types of math taking my electronics course and always excelled at it in high school. The one type of math that never seemed logical to me was statistics. Don't get me wrong I passed it and didn't really find it that hard it was just really different blink.gif

Is it bad if I have seen the word calculus for years on the internet but didn't know what it was until I googled it just now? huh.gif

Two weeks into this and I'm already wishing for graduation!

I missed one of my online Political Science quizzes Friday because I'm an idiot and read the assignment calendar incorrectly. Now the highest grade I can make is a 96. I have an exam today that I am totally unprepared for.

I do like my public speaking course. I may change my mind tonight after I get the grades for my first presentation and last week's test.

These stories about your return to college (that's "university" for you non-mericans!) are giving me nightmares. I've been having those dreams where you forget you even signed up for a course and only show up at the very end when you remember you were supposed to be going...but I've actually been having those for years.

I'm so glad I'm finished with the college thing...for now.

I've had dreams exactly like that many times. Is that dream supposed to actually mean something?

My wife has a doctoral degree, but she never went to Kindergarten. All throughout her graduate studies she would have dreams that they found out about it and made her start all over again from Kindergarten.

Thankfully, they stopped once she had her degree in hand.
