Hi.
That's all I've got.
C-ya.
nah... I don't think that's gonna cut it here...
Take two:
(and call me in the morning)
Hello everyone... (insert big smiley here)
My (nick)name is SillySimon, and I'm an alcoholic (but I'm trying - well... sometimes)
I am so glad to be here.
I received an anonymous (?) tip about this site and thought I'd check it out.
(If I had a quarter for every VIP who sent me an anonymous pat on the back, I'd probably get punched in the mouth with a roll of quarters.)
I wasn't promised punch & pie, but figured I'd have a look anyway.
I recently joined a site called TJNR and found a lot of people who are, at the very least, as cracked as I am. After snooping around here for a bit, I find that most of my favorites are here as well...
The downside is that I don't feel it would be right to bore you folks with a redundant intro... so I guess I gotta come up with something new.
I've been grumpy for as long as I can remember - my employees can attest to that.
I've been a man at least since puberty - or since the loss of virginity 20 years later, depending on your point-of-view.
And I've been what I consider to be old for 17 days and 23 hours - although the gray kicked in shortly after spawning offspring.
When I first rose to the management level in the restaurant business many years ago, I was the guy all the un-attached girls wanted to be with (power and prestige and all that - or maybe it was the long hair and the guitar). A few years later, I was the "big brother" they never had. Now I'm the father figure... and all I can think is WTF happened???
I must be in the right place.
So who am I?
A dreamer... a hippie (retired)... an entrepreneur... a former car salesman... a former knife salesman... a former gold coin salesman... and the former "youngest licensed real-estate agent in Texas"...
A teacher, preacher, husband, and father of three.
...currently owning and operating a mid-sized Pizza & Pasta restaurant in Houston, part of a small, local franchise. According to rumor, next year the franchise is going to go big. I've recently been promised a corporate position in the near future, so YAY ME! Get on my good side for haff offa da pizza!
But seriously, my life truly revolves around my family... and I could bore you to death with stories about the wife and kids, but I won't.
I come to places like this in search of intelligent life, because there is only so much you can talk about with a 7,2,& 1 year-old and a woman who has been run ragged by said children whilst I was out fending off douchebags who want to cry because their pizza took 31 minutes to arrive and failed to scald the roof of their mouths. Do you have any idea how annoying it is to listen to people bitch and moan about one meal out of the three they should hopefully be having that day because it wasn't the culinary experience of a lifetime? Especially when you are aware that, at the end of the day, they contributed approximately $1.87 to your bottom line???
...see? I told you I was grumpy.
I like to read, but don't have much time for books these days. I download gigs of comics, but only have time to read a few.
I love movies, but it's expensive to take a family of five to theater, and a big hassle considering two of the five are still in diapers. Generally, I wait until movies hit previously-viewed status at Blockbuster, and just pick up the dvd.
The can't-miss movies for me this summer are Wall-E, The Dark Knight, Hancock, and Wanted - seeing Angelina's bare, tattooed back in previews gives me a semi every time.
I'm not really watching anything of consequence on TV right now, as House, Heroes, Chuck, Kyle XY, and AI are all on hiatus right now. The only 'new' show I'm looking forward to at the moment is "Fringe" on Fox - it looks interesting.
Once upon a time, I would have said "Music is my life!", but these days I mostly listen to talk radio in the car.
...excuse me while I get another beer and water the lawn...(why am I still drinking at 6am? I have to be at work at 11(11ish-FIXT... good thing I'm the boss!)
Here comes the sun doot 'n doo doo, here comes the sun... and I say...
I'm back! I can't believe I stayed up all night on forums (again). ...good thing I tend to survive on about 4 hours of sleep.
Anyway, I should really move on now. I need to get a bit of sleep, or I'll be about useless tomorrow (today?).
Thanks for taking the time to read my intro.
I truly hope you have as much fun reading it as I had writing it.

Hmmm, I see you are one of those who like the sound of your own voice, or typing as it were.
You'll fit right in because everyone in this place is a windbag.

I'll be honest, I didn't read all that babble, and my first thought was "how come all the blowhards from the other site find their way here."
However, the effort is appreciated. Welcome.
Oh, and try not to be a douche.

You'll find no better example of "blowhard" than our friend Rigsby, Simon.

Glad you are on board. Some of the "older" members are a bit on the Liberal side. Be preparted for the usual TEXAS stero-typical remarks, "Watch 0ut he's got Guns!" or " He must like George Bush, and has voted for the war."
Over all, once you get by the postering you will find that Father Ted is a decent sort, just tends to drink a bit,
But he does buy his share of drinks at the tavern. Rigsby is the Forum Grump. and makes no bones about it. A bit grumpy, the both of them if truth be told, but they'd do . Badbart, and Vjay are usually the voice of reason, puzzlehead is rough but fair.
Myself, I am a kindly mature Gentleman, also from Texas, and am glad to have you here.
Write on , young fellow.

There is just no being good to you is there? Love the way you take a complement!
I can't say that you were wrong about gays kissing in public, and you, frankly, usually are reasonable.
Hope Simon does not get scarerd with all this witty chatter. Keeping up can be hard to do.

Glad to see someone around here thinks I'm reasonable, my children don't generally think so. Especially whenever we go shopping and I say no no no any time they put on the pestering act.

Reasonable!
I know how her kids feel.
I ask her for 'Skype' sex all the time, and she tells me "
No No No" as well!
Now as for Pitchit................ that's a different ball game!

Nah looks like someone named Patrick Aidan Esler just joined but hasn't posted. Zorro joined too but Rigsby may have uncovered insecurities within Zorro about his "sword"
